Wheel Change

Want to change a wheel, mid race?  Follow these simple steps:

1. Raise your hand to alert the bunch that you are dropping back to neutral service/Team car as soon as you puncture.

2. Keep your hand raised alerting team/service vehicle

3. Shift into the smallest gear on the small ring - This creates slack in the chain, which makes wheel removal much easier. If you’re riding, shift as you slow to a stop so that the chain is on the smallest rear cog and the smallest chainring in front. If you’re not riding, shift the levers (one at a time), lift the bike by the seat and pedal by hand to shift the chain.

If the mechanic is out quick, hold front brake & lean forward to raise rear of bike & let them take control, if not:

4. Open the brake

5. Open the quick release and remove wheel (slap down on top of wheel with palm of hand)

6. Stand with wheel in hand and rear of bike in air to allow mechanic a quick change.

7. Take a push and chase the group!
